Key takeaways

A nurse CV in France highlights the state nursing diploma (DE) and the ADELI/RPPS number, your specialty or specialties (ER, ICU, OR, geriatrics…), and concrete clinical skills. Large employers (hospitals, private clinics, staffing agencies) use ATS: reuse the keywords from the job posting and the target unit.

The nurse CV: a high-demand profession, but your application still needs care

Demand for registered nurses (*IDE*, or *infirmier diplômé d'État*) is strong across France, but that doesn't excuse you from a clear, targeted CV. Hospitals, private clinics, nursing homes (*EHPAD*), and staffing agencies receive many applications and increasingly rely on applicant tracking systems (ATS) to sort them. A well-structured CV targeted at the unit you're applying to makes the difference.

Put your state diploma front and centre

For a nursing position, the diploma is a screening criterion. Make it clearly visible, at the top or right after your summary:

  • State nursing diploma (*Diplôme d'État d'infirmier*, DE), year and school (*IFSI*, the French nursing institute).
  • Your ADELI / RPPS number (the French health professional registration numbers) if you have one.
  • Registration with the *Ordre national des infirmiers* (the French national nursing board).

Specify your specialty and units

"Nurse" covers very different realities. The unit and specialty change the skills expected and the keywords the recruiter is looking for:

  • ER / SMUR (mobile emergency unit): stress management, triage, emergency procedures.
  • ICU / critical care: monitoring critical patients, ventilation, invasive techniques.
  • Operating room (*IBODE*, perioperative nurse): instrumentation, asepsis, circulating.
  • Geriatrics / nursing homes: care for older adults, chronic conditions, interpersonal skills.
  • Pediatrics, psychiatry, private practice: each with its own vocabulary.

Reuse the exact job title and unit name in your headline and summary.

The skills to highlight

  • Clinical skills: IV insertion, blood draws, complex wound dressings, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, electronic health records.
  • Soft skills: rigor, stress management, multidisciplinary teamwork, patient relations, confidentiality.
  • Cross-functional: traceability, infection control protocols, emergency management, patient education.

Good example: "Cared for 12 to 15 patients on a medical unit, coordinated with the medical team, and maintained electronic health records (Orbis)."

Applying to public hospitals and staffing agencies

Public hospitals and large facilities use ATS and online application portals. As in the private sector, reuse the keywords from the job posting (unit, patient population, clinical software) and avoid image-based CVs these tools can't read. See why Canva CVs are invisible to ATS.

Test your nurse CV

CVpass analyses your CV, detects the keywords missing compared with the target job posting, and suggests rewrites backed by numbers. Useful for targeting a specific unit or applying to a facility that screens CVs.
